Common Foods partnered with CCD Innovation to develop a new to the world ramen concept that filled the space between value driven dried ramen and high-end artisan ramen shops.
Approach
CCDI conducted a Competitive Landscape Analysis to understand the ramen category, including opportunities to optimize nutritional content, flavor and ingredient statements compared to market leaders.
Once opportunity goals and guardrails were established, CCDI leveraged its expansive ingredient supplier network to identify innovative ingredients to overcome nutritional, costing and analytical hurdles. This groundwork allowed CCDI to efficiently develop a better-for-you ramen that met the strict nutritional and costing targets while focusing on a flavor that satisfies this iconic flavor profile.
To complete the project, CCDI conducted a robust co-manufacturer search that filtered and prioritized domestic co-packers who best fit the criteria of the production resource requirements and brand distribution strategy.
Results
Leveraging our product development team of food scientists and culinarians, CCDI identified, developed, and selected a manufacturing partner in record time for a small-scale, e-commerce launch.
